That might make sense in an American context: White-Black, White-Native and so on, but in other context it is just weird.

Punk rock is a broad term for an underground, grass roots musical genre that came into its own in the 70’s as a departure from or reaction to commercially produced album oriented rock of the 60’s and 70’s (now referred to as classic rock). Punk rock became a very broad umbrella for many other genres that emerge in the 80’s and beyond (including pop punk). Punk rock is also an attitude and mindset that is expressed socially and artistically as a movement. This included music, performance, fashion, dance, writing, activism, visual arts, on and on. Pop Punk as a sub-genre would describe a music style borrowing elements from Punk Rock but not as focused on re-inventing or including all of the elements of the main genre. Stylistically, punk rock can be described as mid-tempo, guitar-driven rock-n-roll with anti-establishment themes. Guitars and bass are played buzz-saw and staccato with picks, opting for energy, angst and simplified song structure over bloated production, drum solos and long guitar leads common for music of the time. But to define a genre that is built on anti-establishment, contradiction and non-conformity is too limiting, and punk rock in reality would contradict what I have written.
