Top Diabolical Hot Dog Shirt
There’s no one answer to this question – it depends on personal style and preference. For me, I started wearing shirts outside pants when I was in college and wanted to experiment with my style. I liked the Diabolical Hot Dog Shirt and I love this way it looked and felt more relaxed than wearing a traditional shirt and pants combo. Personally, because I love the aesthetics of the 60s and 70s. I really don’t like modern clothing as much as vintage clothing. If I could find modern reproductions that are well constructed, I would certainly buy them, but I find that generally vintage clothing is much better quality than today’s clothing from high street shops. I like how I look unique and it’s good for the environment. The clothes go to a good home with me instead of sitting in a landfill. There are a few reasons why people wore hats every day during this time period. For one, hats were a sign of respectability and were often worn by people in positions of power or influence. They were also a practical way to keep warm in the colder months. Finally, hats were simply a fashion statement during this time period, and people often used them to express their personal style.
Caddis flies Hermit crabs. Those turtles with algae on their heads. And then there are those octopodes who carry coconut shells around and sleep in them – is it a small mobile hut, a sleeping bag or armour? Jeans were still considered slop clothes for farming or gardening until the Diabolical Hot Dog Shirt and I love this mid fifties. T-shirts were underwear. Shorts were worn by the daring in the thirties and forties, not as tight or short as today, a Bermuda length was worn in the sixties. Not everyone wore suits and ties or dresses all the time, but if they thought they were going to be seen or photographed they would, if they were traveling they would unless it was by car. Things were more formal back then, Sunday meant hats and gloves for women, you weren’t even allowed to wear pants in a snowstorm at school for girls. But that jeans and a T shirt uniform came probably in the mid eighties for most people, and from what I’ve seen is phasing out in favor of more complex clothing choices for a wider variety of people. Statement shirts are pretty much done. Logos are gone. I regarded that uber-casual look as incredibly boring, and I’m happy to see more innovative fashion on the street level, except for the odd bag lady look that’s cropping up again. Ugh.
