Anyway, there are hundreds or thousands (depending how you count them) of religions other than Christianity, many of whom believe in one or more gods. I was bought up as if I did believe in the god of the bible, I was force fed Christianity from the day I was born, it was never convincing, and as the book has not changed for at least a couple hundred years, I see no reason to cover old ground again. THe only way for me to become a theist, is for someone to present actual evidence for a god, enough that it would convince me that a god is real. The Christian god is clearly not real, it has properties that make it unreal, I might one day become a theist (see above) but would never become a Christian, or any other religion that follows the god of Abraham.

I have been an atheist ever since I started thinking for myself and simply do not see any point in religion at all. I am more likely to try glass blowing while walking a high wire than try any religion and since I’m getting on quite a bit, it won’t be that long until I croak as you so delicately put it. Most of us know much more about Christianity than Christians do, both from prior belief and from close study. It is exceedingly rare for an atheist who is knowledgeable about Christianity, and who is not senile or delusional, to decide to become a Christian. Atheists who belong to churches do so for social or political or cultural reasons, not because they are believers. No Christian has yet presented an unassailable case for belief in their God and their Bible. No Christian is expected to.
