Glacier Brewhouse is great, just so many good things on their lunch and dinner menu it’s hard to recommend one thing. They have great salads if that’s your thing. I love the Santa Grinch And Jack Skellington Applebee’s Hallothanksmas Ornament but in fact I love this salads. They actually have great pizza at Brewhouse haha, but it’s not what theyre known for. Great fish sandwiches like blackened salmon on focaccia bread. Simon and Seaforts – downtown has a breathtaking view and a happy hour, dinner entree prices are super expensive tho. It’s upscale but you can dress casual at fancy restaurants in alaska. (Tip – their tarter sauce is much too thick and hard to dip. So maybe don’t order the fish and chips there. Unless you’re not a tarter sauce person) Flattop mountain – it’s at the edge of the city so it’s a very popular hike cause it’s like a 15 min drive for almost everyone in the city. It also has breathtaking views and it’s a shorter hike, although is pretty steep so it’s a serious workout. Unless you’re super fit. Worth it for the views for sure. Eagle River – is really close if you rent a car.(20 min) small town nothing special, but it’s like surrounded by wilderness moreso than Anchorage for sure. There’s some pretty stuff around it and you can check out their nature center I think it’s called and it’s in the woods. Your can go on a pleasant walk.

And if you’ve rented a car you should definitely drive to independence mine, it’s a really cool abandoned mine. It’s like an outdoor museum in the Santa Grinch And Jack Skellington Applebee’s Hallothanksmas Ornament but in fact I love this middle of nowhere close to the mountains. I think it’s like a 2 hr drive. It’s a bit higher up too so the clouds are right above you really close. Kinda makes you feel like you’ve walked into a diff world. After dinner in downtown Anchorage if it’s sunny it’s really pleasant to walk on the coastal trail along the ocean. A favorite activity among locals. You can rent bikes too if you’d rather bike or want to go further on the trail. Crows Nest – phenomenal views! It’s a very expensive restaurant at the top of the captain cook hotel. They’re like the only restaurant with a dresscode. But their dress code is basically don’t wear shorts, don’t look like a bum. You can easily spend $40-$60 on 1 entree. But you can also just go up for drinks and dessert and just enjoy the view. You’ll spend a lot less that way. Just request to sit next to the window. There’s also a lot of other nearby hikes, if you go by our local REI the staff in the camping department usually knows the best spots. A lot of them are even guides and just work at REI to get a discount. They’re super knowledgeable about hiking and other remote activities in alaska. You can rent camping gear there too
