Black Sabbath- Sabbath has two eras that are worth listening to. Their first five albums with Ozzy as the singer and then their albums with Dio. The Sabbath albums without either of those two range from OK to garbage. For the Ozzy era stuff check out Paranoid. From the Dio era a lot of people will point to Heaven and Hell or The Mob Rules but I recommend Dehumanizer. Alice Cooper – Classics I normally don’t recommend compilations or best of albums but this one contains a good mix of his material. Cooper is heavy and has a tongue in cheek style. Metallica- The Black Album- This is the most recent album on the traditional metal list. Prior to this Metallica was a thrash band with heavier, faster and more distorted playing. This album was a drastic shift in style to a more radio friendly sound. It’s very divisive in the metal community but is a decent gateway album.
