We went to Greece for 10 days and did not plan to go to Syros. Some areas (Chalkidiki for example) have a lot of beaches and places where you can go and without a car, you would be limited to the place you are in. Buy an internet card – generally (unless you are in a very good hotel/apartments) the internet in Greece is extremely bad and the internet card can save your nerves because there is a very big chance that internet here would sooner or later piss you off. Sunscreen or any form of protection is essential – the sun can really ruin your vacation if you are someone who is pale. If you are someone who doesn’t want to waste time cooking or preparing any meals, virtually every place has a taverna near it – you can go there and have a good lunch for a relatively small amount and yet not having to prepare anything yourself.
