As a petite woman who wears men’s shirts I really find no problem, the only way to know is to order some shirts and try them on. Even as a size 6 I find men’s xs fits me fine. If you have a bigger bust undoing a button or two at the top will fix that and is often preferred by some dress codes. If you work at an EXTREMELY strict place you may find issues but generally, most workplaces don’t even notice. Many men’s shirts are cheaper and more comfortable and sturdy, give it a google and you’ll find many women who wear men’s suits to work. It’s so silly that we have to pay more to buy ‘androgynous shirts’ from designer brands cos women’s affordable brands only stock awful ‘tailored’ shirts that look like the shirts I wore in high school and just show off how poorly the tailoring matches my actual body shape resulting in a less smart look. Give it a look and don’t let other people assuming your body shape stop you from feeling comfy and confident!
Honestly? Whatever is comfortable. In our current inclusive community, if we are to openly accept tattoos, piercings, rainbow hair colors, gauges, distressed garments, and extreme accessories, there has to be tolerance for business attire, real leather shoes, pulled-together outfits, and preppy accoutrements. Depends where you are going and who you are with. Going to work? Anyways. By formal, I assume it’s like a tuxedo shirt with ruffles. etc. And what do your pants look like? You certainly don’t want to wear a fancy shirt with shorts. Even with certain jeans, it would look ok. “We” can wear whatever the heck we want. That said, pink dress shirts and pink formal shirts are two entirely different animals. Pink dress shirts have been around for decades and can pretty much be found in most men’s clothing stores everywhere in America.
